Mariposa Espejitos
“Underworld” / San Miguel de Allende, Mexico 2018
Empty cocoons of the Gulf Fritillary Butterfly or “Passion Butterfly” also known as Mariposa Espejitos in Spanish. These butterflies are bright orange and they love to eat the Passionfruit leaves.
Side Note: My friend Vicky has been keeping Passion fruit bushes in her garden with the sole purpose of feeding these beautiful butterflies. One day we gently collected as many empty cocoons as we could. Then with the help of Ri Anderson we carefully applied them to Tania’s face with actors glue.
